Child Safety Standards
Version 1.0 · Last updated: 26 July 2026
Our commitment
Flare has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) in any form. Flare is an adults-only platform. Any content, behaviour or communication that sexualises, exploits, endangers or targets minors is strictly prohibited, results in immediate and permanent removal from the platform, and is reported to the relevant authorities.
These standards apply to every part of Flare: profiles, photos, messages, voice and video calls, private albums, communities, meetups, venues and services.
Adults only - keeping minors off the platform
- Flare is exclusively for adults aged 18 and over. This is enforced at sign-up and throughout the product, not just stated in our terms.
- Every account must confirm its date of birth, and accounts are put through age assurance: identity and age verification checks, applied as a mandatory gate in regions where the law requires it and used across the platform to detect underage users.
- Accounts suspected of belonging to a minor are suspended immediately pending verification, and permanently removed when confirmed.
Prohibited content and behaviour
The following are banned outright, with no exceptions:
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) of any kind, real or generated, including cartoon or fictional depictions.
- Any sexualisation of minors, including text, imagery, audio or links to external material.
- Grooming behaviour: attempts by adults to contact, befriend, manipulate or arrange meetings with minors.
- Sextortion, trafficking, or the advertisement or facilitation of any sexual service involving a minor.
- Attempts by minors to access the platform, or by adults to assist a minor in doing so.
Prevention, detection and moderation
- In-app reporting everywhere: every profile, message, photo, meetup and community can be reported in one or two taps. Reports involving potential child safety issues are triaged with the highest priority.
- Human moderation: our moderation team reviews reports and proactively investigates suspicious accounts and content.
- Traceable media: photos and private media carry viewer-identity watermarking, and sensitive surfaces block screenshots, deterring redistribution of intimate content and enabling us to trace leaked material to the account that captured it.
- Compliance engine: regional age-assurance and safety rules are enforced server-side, so they cannot be bypassed by modified clients.
Enforcement and reporting to authorities
- Confirmed CSAE content or behaviour leads to immediate content removal and permanent account termination.
- We preserve evidence as permitted by law and report apparent CSAM and child exploitation to the relevant authorities, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and applicable national bodies such as the UK's Internet Watch Foundation (IWF), and we cooperate with law enforcement requests.
- We comply with applicable child safety laws in every region where Flare operates, including reporting obligations under US federal law, and UK and EU online-safety legislation.
How to report a concern
In the app: open the profile, message or content → tap the ⋯ menu → Report. Child-safety reports are prioritised above all other queues.
By email: contact our safety team at support@joinflare.io. Please include usernames, screenshots or other details where possible. If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first.
You can also report CSAM directly to NCMEC's CyberTipline or the Internet Watch Foundation.
Contact
Designated child safety contact: support@joinflare.io (Flare Safety Team). We aim to acknowledge child-safety reports within 24 hours.
