This Cookie Policy explains how Flare uses cookies and similar technologies. It supplements our Privacy Policy - where those two documents conflict on cookies and similar technologies specifically, this Cookie Policy governs.

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. "Similar technologies" perform comparable functions and, depending on how you access Flare, may include:
Flare is operated by Backroom Studio Ltd (London, United Kingdom). This policy applies to the Flare website at joinflare.io, in-app web views, and equivalent technologies in our mobile apps.
Cookies and similar technologies help us:
Without certain strictly necessary cookies, parts of Flare will not work correctly.
Depending on your device and how you access Flare, we use the following categories:
| Category | What it does | Can you turn it off? |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Authentication, security, session management, fraud prevention, load balancing, and preferences required for core functionality. | No - these are required for the Service to work. |
| Functional | Remember choices such as language, region, theme, accessibility and login preferences - without tracking you for advertising. | Yes, via your browser/device, though some personalisation may be lost. |
| Analytics | Help us understand which features are used, performance, user journeys and error rates, so we can improve Flare. Used with your consent where required. | Yes - decline via the consent prompt (where shown) or your browser. |
| Advertising | Deliver and measure ads and prevent ad fraud for users on the free plan; personalised only with consent. Plus/Premium subscribers are not shown ads. | Yes - manage in the consent prompt, in-app ad settings, or your device. |
More about advertising is in Section 10 of our Privacy Policy.
Some providers we rely on may set or read cookies or similar technologies under their own privacy policies, including those supporting:
These third parties process information according to their own policies. See, for example, Google's use of cookies.
Traditional browser cookies are not always used inside our iOS and Android apps. Instead, the apps may use secure device storage, SDKs, authentication tokens and local storage that perform similar functions to help the Platform operate securely.
On iOS, before an advertising identifier is used for personalised ads, we ask your permission via Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. On Android, you can reset or limit your Advertising ID in your device settings.
Where required by law (such as in the UK and EEA), we ask for your consent before placing non-essential cookies or similar technologies, using a cookie banner or a Google-certified consent mechanism. You can withdraw or change your consent at any time.
Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of Flare from working.
As Flare evolves, the cookies and similar technologies we use may change. We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect new features, new providers, changes in the law, or improvements to the Platform, and will revise the "Last updated" date above.
