1. Respect & Consent

Everyone deserves respect

Flare is built on respect, inclusion and consent.

Treat every user with dignity regardless of their:

  • Sexual orientation
  • Gender identity
  • Gender expression
  • Race
  • Ethnicity
  • Nationality
  • Religion
  • Disability
  • HIV status
  • Age (18+)
  • Appearance
  • Body type
  • Relationship style

We welcome diversity and expect everyone to contribute to a positive environment.

Consent comes first

Consent is fundamental to every interaction on Flare.

Whether you’re:

  • Messaging
  • Calling
  • Sharing photos
  • Sharing Private Albums
  • Attending Meetups
  • Joining Communities
  • Offering Services

everyone involved should freely choose to participate.

Consent should always be:

  • Freely given
  • Informed
  • Ongoing
  • Reversible

People can change their mind at any time.

“No” always means no.

Silence does not mean yes.

Pressure is not consent.

Respect boundaries

Respect another person’s decisions.

If someone:

  • Stops replying
  • Declines a date
  • Leaves a conversation
  • Revokes Private Album access
  • Removes a partner link
  • Blocks you
  • Leaves a Community
  • Declines a Meetup invitation

accept their decision.

Attempts to pressure or repeatedly contact someone after they have clearly disengaged may be treated as harassment.

Respect privacy

Not everyone is publicly open about their identity.

Never:

  • Out another person’s sexuality.
  • Out someone’s gender identity.
  • Reveal someone’s HIV status.
  • Reveal private conversations.
  • Reveal another user’s location.
  • Reveal someone’s attendance at a Meetup.
  • Share someone’s private photos.
  • Share screenshots without permission.

Everyone controls their own privacy.

Help protect it.

Be kind

Healthy disagreement is acceptable.

Personal attacks are not.

Before posting, ask yourself:

  • Is it respectful?
  • Is it helpful?
  • Could it unnecessarily harm someone?

Small acts of kindness help make Flare a better community.

Zero tolerance for coercion

You must never attempt to manipulate another user into doing something they do not want to do.

Examples include:

  • Sexual pressure
  • Emotional manipulation
  • Blackmail
  • Threats
  • Sextortion
  • Repeated unwanted requests
  • Demanding intimate photos
  • Demanding money
  • Threatening to expose someone’s identity

These behaviours are among the most serious violations on Flare and may result in immediate permanent removal.

2. Adults Only (18+)

Flare is strictly for adults

Flare is designed exclusively for adults aged 18 years or older.

No one under the age of 18 may:

  • Create an account.
  • Use the Platform.
  • Access Community features.
  • Participate in Meetups.
  • Create Service listings.
  • Host events.
  • Join voice or video calls.
  • Access Private Albums.

This rule applies regardless of local laws that may permit younger ages on other platforms.

Age Assurance

To help maintain an adults-only community, Flare uses age assurance during registration.

Depending on your country and applicable laws, you may be asked to complete one or more verification steps before using the Platform.

These checks help us:

  • Protect minors.
  • Protect adult users.
  • Prevent impersonation.
  • Comply with online safety laws.
  • Maintain community trust.

Identity Verification

Certain Platform features require additional identity verification.

Examples include:

  • Hosting Meetups.
  • Managing Venues.
  • Offering Services.
  • Other safety-sensitive features introduced in future.

Identity verification helps create a safer experience for everyone but does not guarantee a user’s behaviour or trustworthiness.

Didit Verification

Flare uses Didit, a specialist identity and age-assurance provider, to perform age and identity verification.

Depending on the circumstances, verification may include:

  • A selfie with a liveness check to estimate your age.
  • Government-issued ID verification where required.

Verification images and documents are processed by Didit.

Flare receives only the verification outcome (such as approved, in review or declined) and does not receive or retain your verification selfie or identity documents.

Further information is available in our Privacy Policy.

Country-Specific Requirements

Verification requirements vary depending on where you use Flare.

Some countries require mandatory age verification before access to the Platform.

Others require additional identity verification before certain features can be used.

Flare determines the appropriate verification requirements based on applicable laws and your approximate location.

Misrepresenting Your Age

You must never:

  • Provide a false date of birth.
  • Attempt to bypass age verification.
  • Use another person’s identity.
  • Submit fraudulent documents.
  • Help another person evade verification.

Attempting to access Flare by misrepresenting your age or identity is a serious violation of these Guidelines.

Protecting Minors

Never:

  • Encourage anyone under 18 to join Flare.
  • Create an account on behalf of a minor.
  • Share your account with a minor.
  • Help someone under 18 bypass verification.
  • Suggest ways to evade Flare’s age assurance systems.

Protecting children is everyone’s responsibility.

If You Think Someone Is Under 18

If you believe someone using Flare may be under 18:

  • Do not engage in sexual conversations.
  • Do not exchange intimate images.
  • Report the account immediately.
  • Allow our moderation team to investigate.

Do not attempt to conduct your own investigation or publicly accuse other users.

False Reports

Knowingly making false reports that another user is under 18 is a misuse of Flare’s reporting system.

False reports may delay investigations into genuine child safety concerns and may themselves result in enforcement action.

Why These Rules Matter

Age assurance helps protect everyone.

These measures are intended to:

  • Keep minors off the Platform.
  • Protect adult users.
  • Support a safer LGBTQ+ community.
  • Comply with international online safety laws.
  • Build trust across the Platform.

We appreciate every user who helps us maintain an adults-only community.

3. Child Safety - Zero Tolerance

Protecting Children Is Our Highest Priority

Flare has zero tolerance for any behaviour, content or activity that endangers, exploits or sexualises anyone under the age of 18.

Protecting children takes priority over every other Platform feature.

Any violation of this chapter is treated as one of the most serious breaches of our Community Guidelines and Terms of Service.

No Minors on Flare

Flare is an adults-only platform.

Anyone under 18 is prohibited from using the Platform.

This includes attempting to:

  • Create an account.
  • Access another person’s account.
  • Join Communities.
  • Participate in Meetups.
  • Access Private Albums.
  • Join voice or video calls.
  • Offer Services.
  • Attend events organised through Flare.

Accounts believed to belong to minors will be investigated and removed.

Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM)

Flare has zero tolerance for Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM).

This includes any image, video, illustration, animation or digitally generated content that depicts or appears to depict the sexual abuse or exploitation of a person under 18.

This material is strictly prohibited regardless of:

  • Intent.
  • Context.
  • Artistic claims.
  • Fictional claims.
  • Whether it was created using AI or other digital tools.

Where required by law, Flare will preserve evidence and report such material to the appropriate authorities.

Grooming

Attempting to groom, manipulate or sexually exploit anyone under 18 is strictly prohibited.

Examples include:

  • Building inappropriate relationships with minors.
  • Sexual conversations with minors.
  • Requesting intimate photographs.
  • Sending sexual content.
  • Encouraging secrecy from parents or guardians.
  • Attempting to arrange meetings.
  • Using another person to facilitate contact with a minor.

These behaviours will result in immediate permanent removal from the Platform.

Sexual Content Involving Minors

You must never:

  • Send sexual content to a minor.
  • Request sexual content from a minor.
  • Encourage a minor to create sexual content.
  • Discuss sexual acts with someone you know or reasonably believe may be under 18.
  • Share or redistribute sexual material involving minors.

There are no exceptions to this rule.

Age Uncertainty

If you are unsure whether someone is over 18:

  • Do not send intimate images.
  • Do not request intimate images.
  • Do not engage in sexual conversations.
  • Report the account if appropriate.

When in doubt, prioritise safety.

Exploitation & Trafficking

Flare prohibits any activity involving the exploitation of children.

This includes:

  • Human trafficking.
  • Child exploitation.
  • Commercial sexual exploitation.
  • Forced labour involving minors.
  • Recruitment for illegal activities involving minors.
  • Facilitating abuse.

Such conduct may be reported to law enforcement and relevant child protection organisations.

Circumventing Safety Systems

Users must not attempt to:

  • Help minors access Flare.
  • Evade age verification.
  • Create accounts for minors.
  • Share verified accounts with minors.
  • Encourage others to bypass age assurance systems.

Attempting to defeat Flare’s child safety protections is itself a serious violation.

Reporting Child Safety Concerns

If you believe someone may be:

  • Under 18,
  • Grooming a minor,
  • Sharing CSAM,
  • Attempting exploitation,
  • Using Flare to facilitate abuse,

report the account immediately using Flare’s reporting tools.

Please avoid publicly confronting or accusing the user, as this may interfere with investigations.

Cooperation With Authorities

Where required by applicable law, Flare may:

  • Preserve relevant evidence.
  • Restrict access to content.
  • Permanently remove accounts.
  • Report information to law enforcement.
  • Report to child protection organisations.
  • Cooperate with lawful investigations.

This may include organisations such as the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) in the United States or equivalent authorities in other jurisdictions, where legally required.

Zero Tolerance Enforcement

Violations involving child safety generally result in:

  • Immediate content removal.
  • Immediate permanent account termination.
  • Device-level restrictions.
  • Preservation of evidence.
  • Referral to law enforcement or appropriate authorities where required by law.

Appeals are extremely limited in cases involving credible child safety concerns.

Our Commitment

Every member of the Flare community plays a role in protecting children.

If you see something that concerns you:

  • Report it.
  • Do not engage with it.
  • Allow our Trust & Safety team to investigate.

Working together helps keep Flare a safe adults-only platform.

4. Respectful Behaviour

Everyone Deserves Respect

Flare is built to help adults connect in a welcoming, inclusive and respectful environment.

Whether you’re chatting, dating, joining Communities, attending Meetups or offering Services, you should treat others with courtesy and dignity.

Disagreements may happen, but abusive behaviour is never acceptable.

Harassment

Harassment is any behaviour intended to intimidate, humiliate, threaten or repeatedly disturb another person.

Examples include:

  • Repeated unwanted messages.
  • Persistent contact after someone has asked you to stop.
  • Insults directed at another user.
  • Personal attacks.
  • Bullying.
  • Intimidation.
  • Deliberately provoking another user.
  • Coordinated harassment.
  • Encouraging others to harass someone.

If someone asks you to stop contacting them, respect their decision.

Stalking

Stalking behaviour is strictly prohibited.

Examples include:

  • Following someone across multiple Communities.
  • Creating new accounts after being blocked.
  • Monitoring another person’s activity.
  • Tracking someone’s location.
  • Repeatedly attending Meetups solely to pursue another person.
  • Attempting to discover someone’s private identity or address.

Stalking may result in immediate enforcement action.

Hate Speech

Flare has zero tolerance for hate speech.

You must not attack, threaten or degrade people because of characteristics including:

  • Sexual orientation.
  • Gender identity.
  • Gender expression.
  • Race.
  • Ethnicity.
  • Nationality.
  • Religion.
  • Disability.
  • HIV status.
  • Age.
  • Immigration status.
  • Body type.
  • Medical conditions.

This applies throughout the Platform, including:

  • Profiles.
  • Usernames.
  • Bios.
  • Communities.
  • Comments.
  • Messages.
  • Meetups.
  • Service listings.
  • Reviews.

Discrimination

Do not promote discrimination against individuals or groups.

Examples include encouraging others to:

  • Exclude people.
  • Harass people.
  • Deny services.
  • Threaten violence.
  • Spread hateful stereotypes.

Respectful personal preferences in dating are different from abusive or hateful conduct.

Threats & Violence

You must never:

  • Threaten to injure another person.
  • Encourage violence.
  • Glorify violent acts.
  • Intimidate someone through threats.
  • Suggest that another user deserves violence.

Credible threats may be reported to law enforcement where required or appropriate.

Bullying

Bullying includes behaviour intended to repeatedly embarrass, humiliate or emotionally harm another person.

Examples include:

  • Name-calling.
  • Public humiliation.
  • Mocking someone’s appearance.
  • Ridiculing disabilities.
  • Repeated personal insults.
  • Coordinated abuse.

Healthy debate is acceptable.

Targeted abuse is not.

Outing & Privacy Violations

Many members of the LGBTQ+ community rely on privacy for their safety.

You must never reveal another person’s:

  • Sexual orientation.
  • Gender identity.
  • HIV status.
  • Relationship status.
  • Attendance at a Meetup.
  • Community membership.
  • Private conversations.

without their permission.

Outing another person may place them at real-world risk and is treated seriously.

Sextortion & Blackmail

Flare has zero tolerance for coercion.

You must never:

  • Threaten to publish intimate images.
  • Demand money in exchange for silence.
  • Threaten to expose someone’s identity.
  • Threaten to reveal private conversations.
  • Threaten to reveal HIV status.
  • Use intimate content to control another person.

These behaviours generally result in immediate permanent removal.

Impersonation

Respect also includes respecting identity.

Do not:

  • Pretend to be another person.
  • Pretend to represent Flare.
  • Pretend to represent another organisation.
  • Misuse another person’s photos.
  • Create parody accounts that could confuse users.

Authenticity helps maintain trust throughout the Platform.

Respect Moderators & Staff

You must treat Flare moderators, Trust & Safety staff and Support staff respectfully.

Do not:

  • Abuse moderators.
  • Threaten employees.
  • Harass Support staff.
  • Submit abusive appeals.
  • Attempt to intimidate moderation teams.

Disagreement with a moderation decision does not justify abusive behaviour.

Respect Offline

These Guidelines apply not only online but also to interactions arranged through Flare.

Examples include:

  • Meetups.
  • Dates.
  • Community events.
  • Venue visits.
  • Service appointments.

Offline harassment connected to the Platform may result in enforcement action.

Our Community

Flare succeeds when everyone helps create a welcoming environment.

Small acts of respect, patience and kindness make a meaningful difference.

Help us build a Platform where every adult can connect safely and confidently.

5. Authentic Identity & Account Integrity

Be Yourself

Flare is built on trust.

To help create genuine connections, every account should represent a real person using the Platform honestly.

Your profile should accurately represent you.

Using your own identity helps keep the community safer and improves trust between users.

One Personal Account

Each person may normally maintain one personal Flare account.

You must not:

  • Create multiple personal accounts.
  • Operate duplicate accounts.
  • Create backup accounts to avoid enforcement.
  • Share accounts with other people.
  • Buy or sell Flare accounts.
  • Rent or transfer your account.

Additional accounts may only be permitted where Flare expressly allows them (for example, approved business or testing accounts).

Authentic Profiles

Your profile should accurately represent you.

You should:

  • Use photos of yourself.
  • Provide truthful profile information.
  • Use an accurate age.
  • Keep your profile reasonably up to date.

You do not need to reveal more personal information than you are comfortable sharing.

Impersonation

You must not impersonate:

  • Another user.
  • A celebrity.
  • A public figure.
  • A business.
  • A government organisation.
  • A member of the Flare team.
  • A moderator.
  • Any other individual or organisation.

Impersonation damages trust and may result in immediate enforcement action.

False Information

Do not intentionally provide false or misleading information, including:

  • False names intended to deceive.
  • False ages.
  • False identity documents.
  • False verification information.
  • Fake relationship status.
  • Fake business information.
  • Misleading Service listings.

Minor profile jokes or obvious humour are generally acceptable, provided they are not intended to deceive other users.

Profile Photos

Your profile photos should:

  • Be recent.
  • Clearly represent you.
  • Comply with these Community Guidelines.
  • Respect the privacy of others.

You must not:

  • Use another person’s photos without permission.
  • Use AI-generated people to pretend to be real.
  • Use heavily misleading edited images intended to deceive.
  • Use stolen photographs.
  • Use images designed to impersonate another individual.

Identity Verification

Some features require identity verification.

Examples include:

  • Hosting Meetups.
  • Managing Venues.
  • Offering Services.
  • Other safety-sensitive features.

Identity verification helps increase trust but does not guarantee another person’s behaviour.

Always exercise your own judgement when interacting with others.

Social Sign-In

You may choose to sign in using supported providers such as:

  • Apple.
  • Google.
  • Facebook (Meta).
  • X.

Using social sign-in does not verify your identity to other users unless Flare explicitly displays a verification status.

Username & Display Names

Display names must not:

  • Impersonate another person.
  • Contain hate speech.
  • Include threats.
  • Include slurs.
  • Promote illegal activity.
  • Mislead users into believing you represent Flare.

Flare may require usernames or display names to be changed where necessary.

Ban Evasion

If your account has been suspended or permanently banned, you must not attempt to return by:

  • Creating another account.
  • Using another person’s account.
  • Using another person’s identity.
  • Circumventing device restrictions.
  • Circumventing verification systems.

Ban evasion is itself a serious violation and will usually result in immediate enforcement.

Account Responsibility

You are responsible for everything that happens through your account.

This includes:

  • Your profile.
  • Messages you send.
  • Communities you manage.
  • Meetups you host.
  • Services you publish.
  • Reviews you leave.
  • Photos and videos you upload.

Keep your account secure and do not allow others to use it.

Trust Matters

Authentic identities help everyone have a better experience.

By representing yourself honestly, you help create a community based on trust, safety and genuine connections.

6. Public Profiles & Content

Your Profile

Your Flare profile is how other users discover and learn about you.

You control what information you choose to share, and you are responsible for ensuring that your profile complies with these Community Guidelines.

Your profile may include features such as:

  • Display name.
  • Photos.
  • Bio.
  • Pronouns.
  • Gender identity.
  • Sexual orientation.
  • Relationship status.
  • Interests.
  • Tribes.
  • Lifestyle information.
  • Music.
  • Gaming handles.
  • Social links.
  • Verification badges.
  • Partner links.
  • Communities.
  • Other optional profile features introduced by Flare.

Only share information that you are comfortable making visible to others.

Public Profile Standards

Everything displayed publicly should be suitable for general viewing.

Public profile content should help others understand who you are without exposing other users to explicit or harmful material.

Profiles should remain welcoming and respectful.

Profile Photos

Public profile photos may include:

  • Selfies.
  • Portraits.
  • Casual clothing.
  • Swimwear.
  • Underwear.
  • Fitness photos.
  • Shirtless photos.
  • Pride events.
  • Cosplay.
  • Everyday life.

These are generally acceptable provided they remain appropriate for public display.

Public Content That Is Not Allowed

The following must not appear on public profiles:

  • Exposed genitals.
  • Explicit sexual acts.
  • Pornographic content.
  • Graphic fetish content.
  • Sexual acts involving another person.
  • Graphic violence.
  • Gore.
  • Hate symbols.
  • Terrorist propaganda.
  • Illegal drug use or promotion.
  • Illegal weapons.
  • Child exploitation material.
  • Threats.
  • Harassing content.
  • Fraudulent content.
  • Misleading impersonation.

Such content may be removed immediately.

Sexual Content

Flare is a sex-positive platform.

We welcome healthy adult self-expression.

However, explicit sexual content should remain within features specifically designed for private sharing between consenting adults, such as Private Albums.

Public profiles should remain appropriate for a broad adult audience.

Profile Descriptions

Your biography should accurately describe you.

It must not:

  • Encourage violence.
  • Promote hate.
  • Contain scams.
  • Advertise illegal activity.
  • Include explicit sexual descriptions.
  • Include repeated spam.
  • Mislead other users.

Humour, creativity and personality are encouraged.

Links & Usernames

You may include supported links and usernames where available.

These should:

  • Belong to you.
  • Be accurate.
  • Comply with these Guidelines.

Do not use profile links to:

  • Promote scams.
  • Redirect users to malware.
  • Sell illegal goods.
  • Harass another person.
  • Circumvent Flare’s safety features.

Music & Gaming

If you connect services such as Spotify or Apple Music, or add gaming accounts such as PlayStation Network, Xbox, Steam, Nintendo, Discord or Riot ID:

  • Only connect your own accounts.
  • Respect the rules of those platforms.
  • Do not use them to deceive others.
  • Do not use them to facilitate harassment.

These features are intended to help people connect over shared interests.

Verification Badges

Verification badges help indicate that certain checks have been completed.

They are intended to increase trust within the community.

Verification does not mean that Flare:

  • Endorses a user.
  • Guarantees someone’s identity beyond the verification performed.
  • Guarantees a person’s behaviour.
  • Guarantees honesty or compatibility.

Always exercise your own judgement when interacting with others.

Partner Links

Partner or Couple links must always reflect genuine, mutual relationships.

Do not:

  • Link to someone without their consent.
  • Misrepresent your relationship.
  • Create false relationship claims.

Either partner may remove the connection at any time.

Community Visibility

If you choose to publicly display Communities on your profile:

  • Join Communities genuinely.
  • Do not misuse Community membership to harass others.
  • Respect Community rules.
  • Respect moderator decisions.

Community participation should contribute positively to the Platform.

AI Moderation

To help protect the community, public profile content may be reviewed using AI-assisted moderation.

Depending on the content:

  • Safe content may be approved automatically.
  • Explicit public content may be redirected to Private Albums where appropriate.
  • Borderline content may be reviewed by human moderators.
  • Illegal content may be blocked and reported where required by law.

AI assists moderation but does not replace human judgement for significant enforcement decisions.

Keep Your Profile Current

You can edit your profile at any time.

Keeping your information current helps other users have accurate expectations and supports genuine connections.

7. Messaging, Calls & Shared Media

Private Communication

Flare allows users to communicate privately through features including:

  • Text messages.
  • Voice messages.
  • Photos.
  • Videos.
  • GIFs.
  • Emoji and reactions.
  • Shared Private Albums.
  • View Once media.
  • Location sharing.
  • Voice calls.
  • Video calls.
  • Other communication features introduced in future.

Private communication is intended for respectful conversations between consenting adults.

Consent Before Sending Intimate Content

Always obtain consent before sending sexually explicit or intimate content.

Never assume another person wants to receive:

  • Nude photographs.
  • Explicit videos.
  • Sexual voice messages.
  • Graphic sexual descriptions.
  • Fetish content.

Unsolicited explicit content is considered harassment and may result in enforcement action.

Consent may be withdrawn at any time.

Respect Boundaries

Respect another person’s communication preferences.

If someone:

  • Stops replying,
  • Declines a call,
  • Ends a conversation,
  • Revokes Private Album access,
  • Blocks you,
  • Asks you to stop,

you must respect that decision.

Repeated attempts to contact someone after they have clearly disengaged may be treated as harassment.

Voice & Video Calls

Voice and video calls are designed to help matched users or users already in a conversation communicate more naturally.

During calls you must not:

  • Harass another person.
  • Threaten another person.
  • Display illegal content.
  • Display explicit content without consent.
  • Encourage self-harm.
  • Record or broadcast calls without permission.
  • Involve anyone under 18.

Calls should remain respectful at all times.

View Once Media

Where supported, Flare allows users to send media intended to be viewed only once.

Recipients should respect the sender’s intention.

Do not attempt to:

  • Capture View Once media.
  • Record View Once media.
  • Circumvent View Once protections.
  • Redistribute View Once content.

View Once media is designed to increase privacy, not eliminate personal responsibility.

Location Sharing

You may choose to share your location with another user during a conversation.

Location sharing is always optional.

Before sharing your location, consider:

  • Whether you trust the recipient.
  • Whether the meeting location is safe.
  • Whether someone else knows where you are.

Never pressure another user to share their location.

Respect Private Conversations

Private conversations are intended to remain private.

Without permission, do not:

  • Publish messages.
  • Share screenshots.
  • Share recordings.
  • Forward private conversations.
  • Redistribute another person’s media.

Respecting privacy helps build trust throughout the community.

Screenshot Protection & Watermarking

To help protect private conversations and media, Flare may use technologies such as:

  • Screenshot notifications.
  • Screenshot protection.
  • Viewer-specific watermarks.
  • Unique account identifiers.
  • Other content attribution technologies.

Attempting to remove or circumvent these protections violates these Guidelines and may result in enforcement action.

Further details are provided in the Terms of Service.

Spam

Messaging should be genuine.

Do not:

  • Send repeated unsolicited messages.
  • Mass-message users.
  • Advertise without permission.
  • Send automated messages.
  • Flood conversations.
  • Repeatedly copy and paste promotional content.

Spam reduces the quality of the Platform for everyone.

Fraud & Scams

Private messaging must never be used to:

  • Request money through deception.
  • Promote investment scams.
  • Conduct romance scams.
  • Request banking information.
  • Request passwords.
  • Distribute malware.
  • Share phishing links.

Protect yourself and report suspicious activity.

Illegal Content

Private communication must never be used to share:

  • Child sexual abuse material.
  • Terrorist content.
  • Human trafficking material.
  • Non-consensual intimate images.
  • Illegal weapons sales.
  • Illegal drugs.
  • Fraudulent documents.
  • Malware.
  • Any other unlawful material.

Such content will result in immediate enforcement action and may be reported to the appropriate authorities where required by law.

Reports

Although Flare does not routinely monitor private conversations, reported content may be reviewed by our Trust & Safety team where reasonably necessary to:

  • Investigate reports.
  • Protect users.
  • Enforce these Guidelines.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

Our moderation processes are explained further in our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Healthy Conversations

Good conversations are built on:

  • Respect.
  • Consent.
  • Honesty.
  • Patience.
  • Kindness.

Help create positive experiences for everyone you interact with.

8. Private Albums & Intimate Images

Share Responsibly

Private Albums allow you to share photos and videos with specific people you choose.

Unlike your public profile, Private Albums are intended for private sharing between consenting adults.

You remain in control of who can access your albums and for how long.

Your Choice

You decide:

  • Who can view your Private Album.
  • When to grant access.
  • When to revoke access.
  • Which photos or videos to share.
  • Whether to delete media.

Granting someone access is always your choice.

You should never feel pressured to share intimate content.

Consent Matters

Only share intimate images when:

  • You genuinely want to.
  • Everyone involved has consented.
  • The content complies with these Guidelines.

You should never:

  • Pressure someone into sharing intimate images.
  • Manipulate someone into sending explicit content.
  • Threaten to end a relationship unless content is shared.
  • Use emotional pressure to obtain intimate media.

Consent can be withdrawn at any time.

Only Share Content You Have the Right to Share

You may only upload content that:

  • Depicts you, or
  • You have permission to share.

Do not upload:

  • Another person’s intimate images without permission.
  • Stolen photographs.
  • Images obtained through hacking.
  • AI-generated intimate images pretending to depict another real person.
  • Images that violate another person’s privacy.

Respecting consent also means respecting ownership.

Non-Consensual Intimate Images

Flare has zero tolerance for non-consensual intimate imagery.

This includes:

  • Sharing another person’s intimate images without permission.
  • Threatening to share intimate images.
  • Redistributing private content.
  • Publishing intimate images elsewhere.
  • Selling intimate images.
  • Attempting to identify people in private content.

This behaviour may be illegal and generally results in immediate permanent removal from Flare.

Screenshot Protection

Private Albums are intended for private viewing.

Where supported by your device, Flare may use technologies such as:

  • Screenshot prevention.
  • Screenshot notifications.
  • Screen recording detection.
  • View Once protections.
  • Viewer-specific watermarking.
  • Unique account identifiers.

These technologies help discourage unauthorised redistribution.

Because operating systems differ, these protections cannot be guaranteed on every device.

Respect Private Media

Receiving access to another person’s Private Album does not give you permission to:

  • Screenshot it.
  • Record it.
  • Save it outside Flare.
  • Redistribute it.
  • Publish it elsewhere.
  • Show it to other people.
  • Sell it.
  • Edit it.
  • Create derivative works.

Viewing permission is not permission to copy or redistribute.

Temporary Access

Some Private Albums may be shared for a limited period.

If access expires or is revoked:

  • Respect the owner’s decision.
  • Do not attempt to regain access without permission.
  • Do not attempt to bypass Platform protections.

Album owners remain in control of their content.

Reporting Leaks

If you believe your private media has been shared without your permission:

  • Report it immediately through Flare.
  • Provide any relevant information.
  • Do not retaliate.
  • Allow our Trust & Safety team to investigate.

Where appropriate, Flare may use watermark or viewer-attribution technology to assist investigations.

Illegal Content

Private Albums must never contain:

  • Child sexual abuse material.
  • Exploitative content.
  • Human trafficking material.
  • Non-consensual intimate imagery.
  • Content encouraging violence.
  • Other unlawful material.

Illegal material will be removed immediately and may be reported to the relevant authorities where required by law.

Think Before You Share

Although Flare provides privacy and security features, no technology can completely prevent another person from copying content.

Before sharing intimate media, ask yourself:

  • Do I trust this person?
  • Am I comfortable sharing this image?
  • Would I still be comfortable if this image left Flare?

Your safety and wellbeing always come first.

Our Commitment

Private Albums are designed to help adults share content safely and respectfully.

Flare will continue improving privacy protections, screenshot safeguards and leak detection technologies to help protect our community.

9. Screenshot Protection & Content Attribution

Protecting Your Privacy

Flare includes technologies designed to help protect private content and discourage unauthorised sharing.

These protections are intended to:

  • Protect user privacy.
  • Promote consent.
  • Discourage leaks.
  • Help investigate unauthorised sharing.
  • Support a safer community.

While these measures improve security, no technology can completely prevent another person from copying content.

Screenshot Protection

Where supported by your device and operating system, Flare may use technologies that help reduce unauthorised copying of protected content.

Depending on the feature being used, these may include:

  • Screenshot prevention.
  • Screenshot detection.
  • Screen recording prevention.
  • Screen recording detection.
  • View Once protections.
  • Other security features introduced in future updates.

Availability varies between devices and operating systems.

Screenshot Notifications

For certain protected content, Flare may notify the owner if another user takes or attempts to take a screenshot.

These notifications are intended to improve transparency and help users make informed decisions about what they share.

Because this functionality depends on operating system capabilities, notifications may not always be available.

Digital Watermarking

To help discourage unauthorised redistribution, Flare may apply digital watermarking to certain photos and media.

Watermarks may be:

  • Visible.
  • Invisible.
  • Viewer-specific.
  • Session-specific.
  • Embedded using other forensic technologies.

These measures help identify the source of leaked content where technically possible.

Viewer Attribution

Some protected media may include identifiers linked to the account that viewed the content.

These identifiers may include:

  • Your unique Flare account code.
  • Viewer-specific watermarking.
  • Session identifiers.
  • Other technical attribution methods.

These identifiers exist solely to:

  • Investigate reported leaks.
  • Protect users.
  • Enforce these Community Guidelines.
  • Support legal obligations where applicable.

They are not used to monitor your normal viewing activity.

Respect Protected Content

If someone trusts you with private content, respect that trust.

Do not:

  • Screenshot protected media.
  • Screen record protected media.
  • Photograph another person’s screen.
  • Remove watermarks.
  • Crop or edit images to hide identifying information.
  • Share protected media with others.
  • Upload protected media elsewhere.

Private content should remain private unless the owner has given clear permission to share it.

Circumventing Protection

Do not attempt to bypass Flare’s safety features.

Examples include:

  • Removing watermarks.
  • Using software to defeat screenshot protection.
  • Using modified devices or applications to bypass restrictions.
  • Concealing viewer identifiers.
  • Tampering with forensic attribution technologies.

Attempts to circumvent these protections may result in enforcement action.

Reporting Leaks

If you believe your private content has been shared without your permission:

  • Report the incident through Flare.
  • Include any relevant screenshots or information if available.
  • Do not retaliate by sharing additional private content.
  • Allow our Trust & Safety team to investigate.

Where appropriate, Flare may use watermarking and attribution technologies to assist in identifying the source of the leak.

Our Investigation Process

When investigating reported leaks, Flare may review:

  • User reports.
  • Screenshot attribution data.
  • Watermark information.
  • Relevant account activity.
  • Other technical evidence.

Investigations are carried out in accordance with our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Respect Consent

Access to another person’s content is a privilege, not a licence to redistribute it.

Consent to:

  • View a photo,
  • Access a Private Album,
  • Receive View Once media, or
  • Participate in a private conversation

does not mean you have permission to copy, publish or distribute that content.

Always ask before sharing another person’s private media.

Technology Has Limits

Although Flare invests in privacy and security technologies, no platform can guarantee that content will never be copied.

Before sharing private media, consider:

  • Whether you trust the recipient.
  • How sensitive the content is.
  • Whether you would still be comfortable if the content left the Platform.

Flare encourages thoughtful sharing and respectful behaviour from everyone.

Our Commitment

We continuously improve our privacy and safety technologies.

Future protections may include:

  • Enhanced screenshot detection.
  • Improved forensic watermarking.
  • AI-assisted leak investigations.
  • Additional secure viewing features.
  • Stronger privacy controls.

Our goal is to give users greater confidence when sharing private content while respecting privacy and consent.

  • Maintain a welcoming environment.
  • Moderate fairly and consistently.
  • Remove inappropriate content where appropriate.
  • Respect members’ privacy.

Community Moderators

Community Moderators help Owners manage Communities.

Moderators should:

  • Apply rules fairly.
  • Avoid favouritism.
  • Respect members.
  • Encourage constructive discussion.
  • Remove content that clearly violates Community rules or Flare’s Guidelines.

Moderators should never abuse their position to intimidate, harass or silence members.

Community Members

Every member contributes to the Community culture.

Members should:

  • Stay on topic where appropriate.
  • Respect different opinions.
  • Welcome newcomers.
  • Report rule-breaking instead of escalating conflicts.
  • Respect moderator decisions.

Disagreements are natural.

Personal attacks are not.

Constructive discussion is encouraged.

Community chat should remain welcoming to all members.

Community Events

Communities may organise Meetups and gatherings.

When organising Community events:

  • Provide accurate information.
  • Respect attendee privacy.
  • Follow Meetup Guidelines.

Community Privacy

Respect the privacy of Community members.

Do not:

  • Screenshot Community discussions without permission.
  • Publish private Community conversations elsewhere.
  • Reveal private membership lists.
  • Out Community members.
  • Share attendee information without consent.

Members should feel comfortable participating without fear of exposure.

Fake Communities

Do not create Communities for the purpose of:

  • Spam.
  • Fraud.
  • Harassment.
  • Ban evasion.
  • Artificial engagement.
  • Misleading users.
  • Impersonating organisations.

Communities must exist for genuine participation.

Commercial Activity

Commercial activity within Communities must comply with Flare’s rules.

Do not:

  • Flood Communities with advertisements.
  • Repeatedly promote Services.
  • Pressure members into purchases.
  • Promote illegal businesses.

Where appropriate, use Flare’s dedicated Services and Business Promotion features instead.

Moderator Intervention

Flare may intervene in Communities where reasonably necessary.

Examples include:

  • Serious rule violations.
  • Illegal content.
  • Unsafe Communities.
  • Repeated moderation failures.
  • Community abandonment.
  • Fraudulent Communities.
  • Communities promoting hate or violence.

Intervention may include:

  • Removing content.
  • Removing moderators.
  • Restricting Communities.
  • Closing Communities.
  • Suspending related accounts.

Healthy Communities

The strongest Communities are built on:

  • Respect.
  • Inclusion.
  • Trust.
  • Diversity.
  • Good moderation.
  • Genuine participation.

Help create Communities where everyone feels welcome.

11. Meetups, Gatherings & Hosting

  • Pride activities.
  • Coffee meetups.
  • Sports and fitness.
  • Gaming sessions.
  • Networking events.
  • Volunteer activities.
  • Educational events.
  • Other lawful community gatherings.

Meetups are created by users, not by Flare.

Meetups Are User-Organised

Every Meetup on Flare is organised independently by its host.

Flare:

  • Does not organise Meetups.
  • Does not supervise Meetups.
  • Does not employ Meetup hosts.

Attending a Meetup is always your own decision.

  • Follow these Community Guidelines.

  • Respect the host.
  • Respect other attendees.
  • Follow event rules.
  • Arrive only if approved where approval is required.
  • Behave respectfully throughout the event.

Everyone shares responsibility for creating a positive environment.

Accurate Information

Meetup listings should accurately describe:

  • Date.
  • Time.
  • General location.
  • Purpose.
  • Entry requirements.
  • Attendance limits where applicable.

Do not deliberately misrepresent a Meetup in order to attract attendees.

Respect Privacy

Not everyone wants their attendance at a Meetup to become public.

Do not:

  • Publish attendee lists.
  • Reveal who attended.
  • Share screenshots showing attendance.
  • Photograph people without permission.
  • Record attendees without consent.
  • Out another person’s attendance.

Always ask before posting identifiable photos or videos of other attendees.

Safety Check-In

Flare encourages users to use the optional Safety Check-In feature when attending Meetups.

Safety Check-In may allow users to:

  • Notify a trusted contact.
  • Share a temporary status.
  • Confirm safe arrival.
  • Confirm safe departure.

Safety Check-In is an additional safety tool and does not replace emergency services or personal responsibility.

Illegal or Unsafe Events

Meetups must never be organised for:

  • Illegal activities.
  • Violence.
  • Human trafficking.
  • Drug distribution.
  • Weapons sales.
  • Fraud.
  • Child exploitation.
  • Hate groups.

Flare may allow attendees to review Meetups and hosts.

Reviews should:

  • Reflect genuine experiences.
  • Be honest.
  • Be respectful.
  • Avoid personal attacks.
  • Avoid false accusations.

  • Buy reviews.
  • Exchange reviews.
  • Pressure attendees into leaving positive reviews.
  • Create fake attendee accounts.

Host reputation should be earned through genuine community participation.

Community Meetups

Many Meetups are organised through Communities.

Community organisers should:

  • Respect Community members.
  • Apply Community rules fairly.
  • Avoid excluding members unfairly.
  • Keep Community events welcoming.

Community rules cannot override these Community Guidelines.

Personal Safety

Before attending any Meetup, consider:

  • Meeting in a public place.
  • Telling someone where you are going.
  • Using Safety Check-In.
  • Arranging your own transport.
  • Trusting your instincts.

If something feels unsafe, leave the event and report the issue through Flare.

Reporting Meetups

Report a Meetup if it:

  • Misrepresents its purpose.
  • Promotes illegal activity.
  • Endangers attendees.
  • Harasses users.
  • Violates these Community Guidelines.
  • Uses fake information.
  • Encourages discrimination.

Reports help keep the community safe.

Flare’s Role

Flare provides the technology that allows users to organise Meetups.

We do not guarantee:

  • Event quality.
  • Attendance.
  • Host behaviour.
  • Attendee behaviour.
  • Venue suitability.
  • Event safety.

Users remain responsible for their own decisions before, during and after attending a Meetup.

Building Strong Communities

Meetups are one of the best ways to build lasting friendships and strengthen local LGBTQ+ communities.

By treating others with respect, communicating honestly and prioritising safety, you help make every Meetup a positive experience.

12. Venues

  • Restaurants.
  • Clubs.
  • Community centres.
  • Parks.
  • Event spaces.

  • Flare moderation.

While we work to keep information accurate, details such as opening hours, accessibility or facilities may change.

If you notice inaccurate information, please report it.

Check-Ins

Flare allows users to check in to participating venues.

Check-ins are intended to:

  • Help people discover active venues.
  • Support local LGBTQ+ spaces.
  • Improve community engagement.

Only check in if you are genuinely at, or visiting, the venue.

Do not create false or misleading check-ins.

Respect Your Privacy

Your privacy remains important when using Venues.

Never:

  • Pressure someone to check in.
  • Reveal another person’s check-in without permission.
  • Use check-in information to stalk or harass someone.
  • Attempt to identify anonymous venue visitors.

Where Flare displays activity levels (such as “people here now”), these are presented in an aggregated way and are not intended to reveal individual users.

Venue Reviews

Reviews help other users make informed decisions.

Reviews should:

  • Reflect your genuine experience.
  • Be honest.
  • Be respectful.
  • Focus on the venue or service received.

  • Respect users.
  • Respond professionally where appropriate.

Venues may promote themselves through Flare where such features are available.

Promotional content must:

  • Be accurate.
  • Be lawful.
  • Avoid misleading claims.
  • Avoid explicit public sexual content.
  • Comply with these Community Guidelines.

Promotional placement does not mean Flare endorses the venue.

Prohibited Use

Do not use Venues to:

  • Organise illegal activity.
  • Harass other users.
  • Promote hate groups.
  • Facilitate scams.
  • Sell illegal goods.
  • Mislead users about a venue.

Any venue or listing used for unlawful purposes may be removed.

Personal Safety

Before visiting a venue:

  • Trust your instincts.
  • Arrange your own transport where possible.
  • Tell someone where you are going if appropriate.
  • Use Flare’s Safety Check-In feature if you wish.

Flare encourages users to prioritise their wellbeing when meeting others offline.

You should report a venue if it:

  • Contains false information.

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Complete Flare’s required identity verification through Didit.
  • Keep your account in good standing.
  • Follow these Community Guidelines.

Honest Listings

Service listings should accurately describe what you offer.

Do not:

  • Misrepresent your qualifications.
  • Claim certifications you do not hold.
  • Use misleading photographs.
  • Exaggerate your experience.
  • Pretend to represent another business.
  • Create fake customer reviews.

Honesty helps build trust across the Platform.

Public Content Standards

Service listings are publicly visible.

Titles, descriptions and cover images must remain suitable for general viewing.

Do not include:

  • Explicit sexual descriptions.
  • Graphic sexual language.
  • Pornographic imagery.
  • Graphic nudity.
  • Fetish terminology intended for public advertising.
  • Hate speech.
  • Threats.
  • Illegal content.

If your service is lawful but adult-oriented, advertise it professionally and keep explicit discussions private.

Adult-Oriented Services

Flare recognises that some users may lawfully provide adult-oriented services in certain jurisdictions.

Where permitted by law:

  • Public listings must remain non-explicit.
  • Cover images must comply with these Guidelines.
  • Explicit negotiations should occur privately between consenting adults.
  • All participants must be at least 18 years old.

Flare does not permit the promotion of illegal sexual services or any activity involving coercion, trafficking or exploitation.

Pricing

Public Service listings should not display prices or rates.

Pricing, quotations and booking arrangements should be discussed privately through Direct Messages.

This helps maintain a welcoming public environment while allowing users to discuss services privately.

Respect Customers

Service providers should:

  • Communicate professionally.
  • Respect boundaries.
  • Honour agreed arrangements where reasonably possible.
  • Respond honestly to enquiries.
  • Respect customer privacy.

Professional behaviour strengthens trust within the community.

Respect Providers

Customers should also treat providers respectfully.

Do not:

  • Pressure providers.
  • Demand services after being declined.
  • Leave dishonest reviews.
  • Threaten negative reviews to obtain discounts.
  • Attempt to obtain services through deception.

Respect goes both ways.

Reviews

Where available, reviews should reflect genuine experiences.

Reviews must not:

  • Be false or misleading.
  • Contain harassment.
  • Contain discriminatory language.

  • Pyramid schemes.
  • Illegal weapons.
  • Forged documents.

Spam & Advertising

Do not repeatedly advertise your Services through:

  • Unsolicited messages.
  • Community spam.
  • Repeated comments.
  • Fake accounts.
  • Multiple duplicate listings.

Use Flare’s dedicated Services feature instead of spamming other parts of the Platform.

Report Suspicious Services

Please report any Service that appears to:

  • Be fraudulent.
  • Mislead users.
  • Promote illegal activity.
  • Violate these Community Guidelines.
  • Present a safety risk.

Reports help keep the Services marketplace trustworthy.

Our Commitment

Flare provides the technology that allows verified users to advertise lawful services.

We encourage professionalism, honesty and respect from both providers and customers.

By using the Services feature responsibly, you help create a safer and more trusted marketplace for everyone.

14. Discovery Features

Discovering New People

Flare’s discovery features help users connect with people, Communities, Meetups, Venues and Services.

Depending on your subscription and location, discovery features may include:

  • Nearby
  • Grid
  • Swipe
  • Open
  • Passport
  • Travel Mode
  • Search
  • Filters
  • Recommendations
  • Boosts
  • Other discovery features introduced in future

These features are designed to help people make genuine connections.

Be Genuine

Discovery features should be used honestly.

Use them to:

  • Meet new people.
  • Build friendships.
  • Find dates.
  • Join Communities.
  • Discover Meetups.
  • Explore Venues.
  • Find Services.

Do not use discovery tools to deceive, harass or exploit other users.

Respect People’s Choices

Not every interaction will result in a match or conversation.

If someone:

  • Doesn’t match with you,
  • Doesn’t reply,
  • Passes on your profile,
  • Ends a conversation,
  • Blocks you,

respect their decision.

Do not create additional accounts or repeatedly pursue someone who has clearly indicated they are not interested.

Fair Use

Help keep discovery fair for everyone.

Do not:

  • Artificially manipulate your visibility.
  • Create fake engagement.
  • Use automated software.
  • Operate bots.
  • Use click farms.
  • Manipulate recommendations.
  • Abuse Boosts.
  • Abuse promotional features.

Flare’s recommendation systems are designed to provide a fair experience for all users.

Accurate Information

Your profile helps other users decide whether to connect with you.

Do not deliberately misrepresent:

  • Your age.
  • Your appearance.
  • Your identity.
  • Your location.
  • Your relationship status.
  • Your intentions.

Honest profiles lead to better experiences for everyone.

Open

Open helps users discover people who are currently available to chat, socialise or meet.

If you enable Open:

  • Be honest about your availability.
  • Turn it off when you are no longer available.
  • Respect other users’ boundaries.
  • Do not pressure anyone into meeting.

Being visible through Open does not mean someone is available for unwanted attention.

Travel Mode & Passport

Travel Mode and Passport let users discover people in other locations.

Use these features responsibly.

Do not:

  • Pretend to live somewhere you do not.
  • Mislead people about your travel plans.
  • Use Travel Mode to facilitate scams.
  • Circumvent regional safety requirements.

Always be honest about your location and intentions.

Filters

Filters help personalise your discovery experience.

Do not attempt to:

  • Circumvent filter restrictions.
  • Manipulate filter results.
  • Abuse filtering systems.
  • Mislead users to bypass preferences.

Respect that everyone has different preferences and interests.

Boosts & Visibility

Boosts temporarily increase profile visibility.

Using a Boost does not:

  • Guarantee matches.
  • Guarantee replies.
  • Guarantee profile views.
  • Guarantee friendships.
  • Guarantee dates.

Boosts simply provide greater opportunities to be discovered.

Misusing Boosts or attempting to manipulate visibility systems may result in enforcement action.

Location Integrity

Discovery depends on accurate location information.

Do not:

  • Use mock GPS software.
  • Spoof your location.
  • Manipulate device location.
  • Misrepresent where you are.

Location manipulation reduces trust and harms the experience for everyone.

Respect Discovery Features

Do not use discovery features to:

  • Spam users.
  • Promote scams.
  • Harass people.
  • Send mass unsolicited messages.
  • Circumvent bans.
  • Artificially inflate popularity.

Discovery features exist to encourage genuine connections.

If you believe someone is abusing discovery features, please report them.

Examples include:

  • Fake profiles.
  • Automated accounts.
  • GPS spoofing.
  • Scams.
  • Spam.
  • Fraud.
  • Impersonation.

Your reports help maintain a fair experience for everyone.

Our Commitment

Flare continually improves its discovery systems to provide meaningful and authentic connections.

To protect the integrity of the Platform, we may update recommendation systems, filters, visibility features and anti-abuse measures over time.

We do not disclose the detailed operation of our recommendation algorithms, as this helps protect users and prevents manipulation.

15. Location Safety & Fair Play

Your Privacy Comes First

Flare is designed to help people discover others nearby without revealing their exact whereabouts.

To protect your privacy:

  • Flare never displays your precise GPS location to other users.
  • Distances shown in the app are approximate.
  • Distance information may be intentionally rounded or “fuzzed.”
  • Your exact coordinates are never shared with other users through the Platform.

These protections help reduce the risk of someone determining your precise location.

Share Your Location Carefully

Although Flare protects your location, you remain responsible for what you choose to share.

Avoid sharing:

  • Your home address.
  • Your workplace.
  • Your daily routine.
  • Your regular travel routes.
  • Other information that could unnecessarily expose your personal safety.

Only share your location with people you trust.

Meeting Someone Offline

Meeting another user is always your own decision.

When meeting someone for the first time, we strongly recommend that you:

  • Meet in a public place.
  • Tell a trusted friend or family member where you’re going.
  • Use Flare’s optional Safety Check-In feature.
  • Arrange your own transport.
  • Keep your phone charged.
  • Trust your instincts.
  • Leave immediately if you feel unsafe.

No online interaction can replace good personal judgement.

Safety Check-In

Flare provides an optional Safety Check-In feature to help users feel more confident when meeting offline.

Where available, you may choose to:

  • Share your status with a trusted contact.
  • Send a temporary safety link.
  • Confirm your arrival.
  • Confirm your departure.
  • Receive reminder notifications.

Safety Check-In is an optional tool.

It does not replace emergency services or guarantee your safety.

Respect Other People’s Privacy

Never attempt to determine another user’s exact location.

Do not:

  • Use distance measurements to triangulate someone.
  • Attempt to identify another person’s home or workplace.
  • Follow another user without permission.
  • Use check-ins to monitor someone’s movements.
  • Encourage others to reveal private locations.

Everyone deserves to feel safe when using location-based features.

GPS Spoofing

Location integrity is essential to Flare.

You must not intentionally falsify your location by using:

  • Mock GPS applications.
  • GPS spoofing software.
  • Modified devices.
  • Fake location tools.
  • Other methods intended to deceive the Platform or other users.

Location spoofing undermines trust and may reduce the usefulness of discovery features for everyone.

Fair Play

Do not manipulate location-based features to:

  • Mislead other users.
  • Circumvent local safety measures.
  • Avoid age-verification requirements.
  • Evade moderation.
  • Gain unfair visibility.
  • Promote scams.

Flare may investigate suspected abuse of location systems.

Travel Mode & Passport

Travel Mode and Passport are designed to help users connect with people in other locations.

When using these features:

  • Be honest about your travel plans.
  • Do not falsely claim to be nearby.
  • Respect local laws and customs.
  • Clearly communicate if you are visiting temporarily.

Transparency helps build trust.

Venue & Meetup Safety

When attending a Venue or Meetup:

  • Respect the privacy of others.
  • Do not reveal another person’s attendance.
  • Do not pressure anyone into sharing their location.
  • Respect hosts and venue staff.
  • Follow any reasonable safety instructions.

Offline behaviour connected to Flare remains subject to these Community Guidelines.

Report Safety Concerns

Please report users who:

  • Fake their location.
  • Attempt to stalk others.
  • Abuse location features.
  • Misuse Safety Check-In.
  • Endanger other users.
  • Use location information to harass or intimidate.

Reports help us improve safety for everyone.

Our Commitment

Flare continuously improves location privacy and safety features.

We are committed to:

  • Protecting user privacy.
  • Preventing abuse.
  • Improving location integrity.
  • Supporting safe offline connections.
  • Adapting to new technologies and evolving safety standards.

Your safety remains one of our highest priorities.

16. Scams, Fraud & Financial Exploitation

Honesty is essential to maintaining trust on the Platform.

Impersonation for Financial Gain

Never impersonate another person or organisation to obtain:

  • Money.

  • Access to accounts.
  • Goods or services.

Impersonation used for financial gain is treated as a serious violation.

Malware & Harmful Links

Do not:

  • Share malware.
  • Share phishing websites.

  • Be cautious of unusual payment requests.

Flare does not guarantee payments made directly between users unless we explicitly introduce an in-app payment system.

Report Suspicious Behaviour

Please report users who:

  • Request money suspiciously.
  • Promote scams.
  • Impersonate others.
  • Share phishing links.

Flare works continuously to detect and prevent fraud through:

  • User reports.
  • AI-assisted detection.
  • Account verification.
  • Identity verification where required.

While no platform can eliminate fraud entirely, we are committed to making Flare as safe and trustworthy as possible.

17. Account Security

Protect Your Account

Your Flare account gives you access to your profile, messages, Communities, Meetups, Private Albums and other personal information.

Keeping your account secure helps protect both you and the wider community.

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account.

Use Strong Authentication

We strongly encourage you to secure your account by using:

  • A strong, unique password.
  • A passkey where supported.
  • Two-factor authentication (2FA).

These security features significantly reduce the risk of unauthorised access.

Keep Your Credentials Private

Never share your:

  • Password.
  • Passkey credentials.
  • One-time verification codes.
  • Recovery codes.
  • Authentication tokens.

Flare employees will never ask you to reveal this information through messages, email or Support conversations.

Shared Devices

If you access Flare on a shared or public device:

  • Sign out when you finish.
  • Do not save passwords on public computers.
  • Ensure others cannot access your account.

Keeping your session secure helps protect your privacy.

Compromised Accounts

If you believe someone has accessed your account without permission:

  • Change your password immediately.
  • Revoke access from unfamiliar devices where available.
  • Enable 2FA if you have not already.
  • Contact Flare Support as soon as possible.

Reporting compromised accounts promptly helps us protect your information and the wider community.

Unauthorised Access

You must not:

  • Attempt to access another person’s account.
  • Guess passwords.
  • Use stolen credentials.
  • Purchase compromised accounts.
  • Share accounts with others.
  • Help someone gain unauthorised access.

Unauthorised access is a serious violation of these Community Guidelines.

Security Exploitation

Do not attempt to:

  • Exploit software vulnerabilities.
  • Circumvent security systems.
  • Reverse engineer security features.
  • Interfere with Flare’s infrastructure.
  • Test Platform security without permission.

Do not use:

  • Modified applications.
  • Unauthorised clients.
  • Automation tools.
  • Bots.
  • Software designed to manipulate the Platform.

These applications may compromise your account security and the safety of other users.

Think carefully before sharing personal information with another user.

18. Reporting, Blocking & Appeals

Helping Keep Flare Safe

Every member of the Flare community plays a role in creating a safe, respectful and welcoming environment.

If you encounter behaviour that violates these Community Guidelines, we encourage you to report it.

Reporting harmful behaviour helps protect both you and other members of the community.

When to Report

You should report content or behaviour that appears to violate these Guidelines.

Examples include:

  • Harassment.
  • Hate speech.
  • Threats.
  • Underage users.
  • Child exploitation.
  • Scams.
  • Fake accounts.
  • Impersonation.
  • Spam.
  • Non-consensual intimate images.
  • Illegal content.
  • Dangerous Meetups.
  • Fraudulent Services.
  • Fake Venue listings.
  • Community abuse.
  • Screenshot leaks.
  • Attempts to bypass Platform protections.

If you are unsure whether something violates these Guidelines, you can still submit a report for review.

What Can Be Reported

Depending on the feature involved, you may be able to report:

  • User profiles.
  • Messages.
  • Photos.
  • Videos.
  • Voice messages.
  • Private Albums.
  • Communities.
  • Community posts.
  • Community chats.
  • Meetups.
  • Venues.
  • Service listings.
  • Reviews.
  • Comments.
  • Other supported content.

Different reporting options may be available depending on the type of content.

Blocking Users

If another user makes you uncomfortable, you can block them.

Blocking helps you control who can interact with you.

Depending on the feature, blocking may prevent that person from:

  • Messaging you.
  • Calling you.
  • Viewing your profile.
  • Inviting you to Communities.
  • Interacting with your content.
  • Sending future requests.

Blocking is a personal safety tool and does not automatically result in enforcement against the blocked user.

Confidentiality

We understand that reporting can be sensitive.

Where reasonably possible:

  • Your identity as the reporter is kept confidential.
  • We do not reveal who submitted a report.
  • We review reports in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

In some circumstances, information may need to be disclosed where required by law or to protect users from serious harm.

Our Review Process

Reports are reviewed by Flare’s Trust & Safety team.

To support investigations, we may use:

  • User reports.
  • AI-assisted moderation tools.
  • Human review.
  • Technical evidence.
  • Platform activity relevant to the reported incident.

AI may assist in identifying potentially harmful content, but significant enforcement decisions are not made solely by automated systems.

Response Times

We aim to review reports as quickly as reasonably possible.

The time required depends on factors such as:

  • The severity of the report.
  • The complexity of the investigation.
  • The amount of evidence available.
  • The number of reports received.

Reports involving immediate safety risks or potential child exploitation are prioritised.

False Reports

Please report honestly.

Do not:

  • Submit knowingly false reports.
  • Abuse the reporting system.
  • Attempt to silence someone through repeated false reporting.
  • Encourage coordinated false reports.

Misuse of the reporting system may itself result in enforcement action.

Appeals

If enforcement action has been taken against your account and you believe it was made in error, you may submit an appeal through the Help Center.

Appeals should:

  • Be honest.
  • Explain why you believe the decision was incorrect.
  • Include any relevant information.

Submitting abusive or threatening appeals may result in additional enforcement.

During an Appeal

While an appeal is under review:

  • Some restrictions may remain in place.
  • Access to certain features may continue to be limited.
  • Our Trust & Safety team may request additional information where appropriate.

Not every decision will be overturned.

Our Decisions

Every report is assessed individually.

When making decisions, we consider factors such as:

  • The available evidence.
  • The seriousness of the behaviour.
  • Previous violations.
  • The risk posed to other users.
  • Whether the behaviour appears intentional or repeated.

Our goal is to make fair, consistent and proportionate decisions.

Protecting the Community

Reporting is one of the most important ways users help protect the Flare community.

By reporting genuine concerns and using blocking tools responsibly, you help make Flare safer for everyone.

19. Enforcement

Our Approach

Flare is committed to creating a safe, respectful and welcoming community.

When these Community Guidelines are violated, we may take enforcement action to:

  • Protect users.
  • Prevent harm.
  • Stop abuse.
  • Maintain trust in the Platform.
  • Comply with applicable laws.

Every situation is reviewed individually.

Not every violation results in the same outcome.

How We Assess Violations

When deciding what action to take, we may consider factors including:

  • The seriousness of the behaviour.
  • Whether someone was harmed.
  • Whether the violation was intentional.
  • Whether the behaviour was repeated.
  • Previous enforcement history.
  • The level of risk to other users.
  • Available evidence.
  • Legal obligations.

Some violations are treated far more seriously than others.

Possible Enforcement Actions

Depending on the circumstances, Flare may take one or more of the following actions:

  • Educational guidance.
  • Informal reminder.
  • Warning.
  • Content removal.
  • Profile changes required.
  • Temporary feature restrictions.
  • Community restrictions.
  • Meetup removal.
  • Service listing removal.
  • Venue listing removal.
  • Reduced visibility.
  • Temporary suspension.
  • Permanent account suspension.
  • Device-level restrictions.
  • Referral to law enforcement or other authorities where required by law.

Not every action will be applied in every case.

Content Removal

Content that violates these Community Guidelines may be removed without prior notice.

Examples include:

  • Profile photos.
  • Profile biographies.
  • Messages where reported.
  • Community posts.
  • Reviews.
  • Meetups.
  • Service listings.
  • Venue content.
  • Images.
  • Videos.

Removing content does not prevent additional enforcement where appropriate.

Feature Restrictions

Instead of suspending an account entirely, Flare may temporarily restrict specific features.

Examples include limiting access to:

  • Messaging.
  • Voice or video calls.
  • Communities.
  • Hosting Meetups.
  • Service listings.
  • Venue management.
  • Private Albums.
  • Discovery features.

Restrictions may be temporary or permanent depending on the circumstances.

Temporary Suspension

Accounts may be temporarily suspended where:

  • Behaviour can reasonably be corrected.
  • Further investigation is required.
  • User safety requires temporary action.

During a suspension, some or all Platform features may be unavailable.

Permanent Removal

Permanent removal may occur where a user commits serious or repeated violations.

Examples include:

  • Child exploitation.
  • Grooming.
  • CSAM.
  • Human trafficking.
  • Serious threats.
  • Terrorism.
  • Non-consensual intimate imagery.
  • Ban evasion.
  • Fraud.
  • Repeated harassment.
  • Serious hate speech.
  • Serious criminal activity.

Permanent removal is generally irreversible, although users may still have access to available appeal processes where appropriate.

Device-Level Restrictions

Where reasonably necessary, Flare may apply device-level restrictions to reduce repeated abuse.

These restrictions help prevent users from repeatedly creating new accounts after serious enforcement action.

Attempting to bypass these restrictions is itself a violation of these Guidelines.

AI-Assisted Moderation

Flare uses AI to help identify potentially harmful content and behaviour.

AI may assist with:

  • Photo moderation.
  • Spam detection.
  • Report prioritisation.
  • Translation.
  • Abuse detection.

AI helps our moderators work more efficiently but does not replace human judgement for decisions that have significant effects on users.

Cooperation With Authorities

Where required by law or where necessary to protect users from serious harm, Flare may cooperate with:

  • Law enforcement agencies.
  • Child protection organisations.
  • Regulatory authorities.
  • Courts.
  • Other competent authorities.

Such cooperation is carried out in accordance with applicable law and our Privacy Policy.

Repeat Violations

Repeated violations may lead to increasingly serious enforcement action.

Even where individual incidents appear minor, repeated misconduct may demonstrate a pattern of behaviour that places other users at risk.

No Circumvention

You must not attempt to circumvent enforcement by:

  • Creating new accounts.
  • Using another person’s account.
  • Using false identities.
  • Using modified applications.
  • Circumventing device restrictions.
  • Circumventing verification systems.

Attempts to evade enforcement may result in further action.

Fairness & Consistency

Our goal is to apply these Community Guidelines fairly and consistently.

While every case is unique, we strive to:

  • Protect users.
  • Act proportionately.
  • Consider context.
  • Respect due process where appropriate.
  • Improve the Platform over time.

Appeals

Where available, users may appeal certain enforcement decisions through the Help Center.

Appeals are reviewed independently from the original decision where reasonably possible.

Submitting an appeal does not guarantee that a decision will be changed.

Our Commitment

Enforcement is not about punishment for its own sake.

It is about protecting the Flare community and ensuring that everyone can use the Platform safely, respectfully and confidently.

We appreciate every member who helps make Flare a better place.

20. Safety Tips

Your Safety Matters

Flare is designed to help adults build genuine connections, both online and offline.

While we work hard to provide a safe Platform, no online service can completely eliminate risk.

The best protection comes from combining Flare’s safety features with your own good judgement.

Before Meeting Someone

If you decide to meet another user in person:

  • Meet in a public place.
  • Arrange your own transport.
  • Tell a trusted friend or family member where you are going.
  • Consider using Flare’s Safety Check-In feature.
  • Keep your phone charged.
  • Trust your instincts.

If something doesn’t feel right, leave.

You never owe anyone your time or attention.

Protect Your Privacy

Only share personal information when you are comfortable doing so.

Avoid sharing sensitive details too early, such as:

  • Your home address.
  • Your workplace.
  • Your daily routine.
  • Financial information.
  • Identity documents.
  • Passwords.
  • Verification codes.

Take your time getting to know people.

Protect Your Photos

Think carefully before sharing intimate images.

Even with privacy protections such as:

  • Private Albums,
  • Screenshot protection,
  • Viewer-specific watermarking,
  • View Once media,

no technology can completely prevent another person from copying content.

Only share intimate content with people you genuinely trust.

Watch for Warning Signs

Be cautious if someone:

  • Pressures you into sending intimate photos.
  • Asks for money.
  • Refuses to verify their identity where appropriate.
  • Tries to move conversations off Flare immediately.
  • Makes you feel guilty for saying no.
  • Repeatedly ignores your boundaries.
  • Becomes aggressive or controlling.

Healthy relationships are built on mutual respect.

Trust Your Instincts

If something feels wrong, you do not need to wait until a rule has clearly been broken.

You can:

  • Stop the conversation.
  • Block the user.
  • Report the behaviour.
  • Leave a Meetup or Venue.
  • Contact emergency services if you are in immediate danger.

Your wellbeing always comes first.

Support Your Community

You can help make Flare safer by:

  • Reporting harmful behaviour.
  • Welcoming new members.
  • Respecting consent.
  • Protecting other people’s privacy.
  • Following these Community Guidelines.

Small actions from every member make a big difference.

Mental Wellbeing

Online interactions can sometimes affect emotional wellbeing.

Remember that:

  • Not every conversation will lead to a friendship or relationship.
  • Rejection is a normal part of dating.
  • It’s okay to take breaks from the Platform.
  • Looking after your mental health is important.

Treat yourself and others with kindness.

If You Need Immediate Help

Flare cannot provide emergency assistance.

If you believe you or someone else is in immediate danger:

  • Contact your local emergency services.
  • Reach out to someone you trust.
  • Contact an appropriate crisis or support organisation in your area.

Use Flare’s reporting tools for Platform-related issues, but do not rely on them during emergencies.

Our Commitment

Safety is not just the responsibility of Flare.

It is something we build together.

We will continue investing in:

  • Better moderation.
  • Stronger privacy protections.
  • Improved verification.
  • New safety features.
  • Better reporting tools.
  • Education for our community.

Together, we can create a Platform where everyone feels respected, welcomed and safe.

21. Accessibility & Inclusion

Our commitment to accessibility

Flare is for everyone, including people with disabilities. We build the app to work with the accessibility features already on your phone, and we add app-specific options where the operating system can't help.

Features that work with your device

Flare is designed to support the accessibility tools built into iOS and Android, including:

  • Screen readers - VoiceOver (iOS) and TalkBack (Android): interactive controls are labelled so you can navigate and act on them.
  • Voice Control / Voice Access and Switch Control / Switch Access - the same labels let you drive the app hands-free or with a switch.
  • Larger Text - text scales with your system font-size setting.
  • Reduce Motion - animations are minimised when you turn this on, in the app or in your system settings.
  • Dark Mode and Increase Contrast - for comfortable, high-contrast reading.

In-app accessibility settings

Open Me → Settings → Accessibility for app-specific options, including Increase contrast, Reduce motion, and voice-message transcripts - text for voice messages so members who are deaf or hard of hearing can read them.

Be considerate

We ask all members to be inclusive of people with disabilities. Mocking, excluding, or discriminating against someone because of a disability breaches these Guidelines (see Respectful Behaviour).

Tell us what you need

Accessibility is an ongoing effort. If something is hard to use, or you need an accommodation, contact us at support@joinflare.io and we'll do our best to help.

22. Changes to These Community Guidelines

Keeping Our Guidelines Up to Date

Flare continues to evolve as we introduce new features, improve safety and respond to changes in technology, user feedback and the law.

From time to time, we may update these Community Guidelines to ensure they remain accurate, effective and relevant.

Examples of reasons for updating these Guidelines include:

  • Introducing new Platform features.
  • Improving user safety.
  • Addressing emerging forms of abuse.
  • Reflecting changes in applicable laws or regulations.
  • Improving clarity and consistency.
  • Responding to feedback from our community.

Notification of Changes

When we make significant changes to these Community Guidelines, we will notify users through one or more of the following methods, where appropriate:

  • In-app notifications.
  • Email.
  • Notices on the Flare website.
  • Other reasonable communication methods available through the Platform.

Minor updates, corrections or clarifications may be made without individual notification where permitted by law.

The “Last updated” date at the beginning of these Guidelines will always indicate the most recent revision.

Continued Use

By continuing to use Flare after updated Community Guidelines take effect, you agree to follow the revised Guidelines.

If you do not agree with the updated Guidelines, you should stop using the Platform and may delete your account at any time in accordance with our Terms of Service.

Relationship With Other Policies

These Community Guidelines should be read together with our:

  • Terms of Service.
  • Privacy Policy.
  • Safety Center.
  • Any additional feature-specific rules published within the Platform.

If there is any conflict between these Guidelines and the Terms of Service, the Terms of Service will take precedence to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Our Commitment

Flare’s mission is to build a community where adults can connect safely, respectfully and authentically.

These Community Guidelines are more than a list of rules-they reflect the values that help make Flare welcoming for everyone.

By treating others with respect, protecting privacy, acting honestly and supporting one another, every member helps strengthen the Flare community.

Thank you for being part of Flare.
